Compétences visées

Thermochemistry • define the first principle of thermodynamics and apply it to chemical changes
• define Hess' law and use it to solve thermodynamic problems.
Redox reactions • determinate and use oxidation numbers of an element, identify the oxidizers/reducers in a reaction
• use the predominance/existence diagram to predict the presence of chemical species in solution • predict the favorable/unfavorable character of a redox reaction • define ans use the Nernst equation
Acidobasicity • define an Brönsted acid/base, determine the pH of an aqueous solution and the force of an acid/base, • explain the dissociation of weak acids and bases •
Solubility, complexation and precipitation • define the general behavior of ions in solution • define the solubility concept and the influence of acidity and complexation on the solubility and perform solubility calculations • define Lewis acidity/basicity and perform the calculation of formation/dissociation complexation constants
