The Group of Biomolecular NMR at the IGBMC is looking for a PhD candidate to work on Fluorine NMR

Project description:
Fluorine NMR provides a sensitive probe to study molecular interactions in complex environments. In this project, we aim at developing novel spectroscopic tools for the detection and characterization of various fluorinated compounds such as perfluorinated peptides and proteins. This project emerged from a collaboration between research operating at the interface between chemistry, biology and NMR spectroscopy. The developed tools will find applications in the detection/characterization of persistent organic pollutants, the study of small organic compounds interactions with large macromolecular complexes or the study of intrinsically disordered proteins.

The candidate must hold a Master degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biophysics. A very good knowledge of physical chemistry is required and a previous experience in NMR spectroscopy is a plus. As this project involves international collaborations, a good practice of English reading and writing is expected.

The NMR group has full access to a 600 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a QCI-F cryoprobe as well as a 700 MHz NMR spectrometer. The group is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for protein production and biophysical characterization. The collaborating group at the Institute for Supramolecular Science and Engineering (Institut de Science et d'Ingénierie Supramoléculaires) headed by Vladimir Torbeev masters a wide range of technologies in peptide and protein chemistry. The project is funded both by the ANR and the CASC4DE company.
