NMR Spectroscopy

  • Cours (CM) -
  • Cours intégrés (CI) 21h
  • Travaux dirigés (TD) -
  • Travaux pratiques (TP) -
  • Travail étudiant (TE) 3h

Langue de l'enseignement : Anglais

Niveau de l'enseignement : B2-Avancé - Utilisateur indépendant

Description du contenu de l'enseignement

During this series of lectures we will present Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
First the general principles will be introduced (Bloch Equation, pulse sequence, chemical shift, J coupling)
Then the modern NMR spectrometer will be presented (Magnet, probe, nmr console)
In a third part the processing of NMR data will be discussed (Fourier Transform, Apodization, Phase correction)
Finally advanced NMR experiment will be presented (multi dimensional, solid state NMR, imaging).
During the exercices sessions the student will learn how to solve chemical problems using 1D and 2D 1H nand 13C NMR.

Compétences à acquérir

At the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- understand basic NMR pulse sequence using vector model (Spin echo, Inversion Recovery etc ...)
- determine a chemical structure, using a series of 1D and 2D NMR spectra.
- describe the principal component of a spectrometer
- process NMR data
